These are the rest of the drawings from that "REJECTED" folder. I haven't seen any of these for over 30 years. The concepts are right, but the look is not. After we decided to go "tribal" with the Monsters everything changed. They don't say "back to the drawing board" for nothing!

Still the idea that some of the Monsters would be actors in part-puppet/part-costume was there from the start and the Spiders did end up being marionettes that swooped down to eat the poor sailors in the censored pit sequence.
