As you can see the marionettes we created were very large; between 3 and 5 feet tall as a rule. These "Ladies" were the finale of the Christams touring production called SANTA'S MAGIC CIRCUS.

Like the Ziegfeld Follies this number featured 8 of the marrionettes in Red and the Star of the number, the Lady all in White. These puppets actually had no legs, their skirts were held out by the old style bubble umbrellas which were hooked up underneath ( you can see one "deflated" lady behind me). Each puppet had a special pivoting controller with a single puppeteer manipulating two marionettes. At the end of the number by twisting our wrists the Ladies could be made to rotate as if they were pirouetting in place. add a fog machine, mirror ball and some frosty lighting  and you had quite a finish to the show. Just preceeding this wintery finale were a pair of ice skaters, the female one is the one I'm "working" on in this staged photo for our company brochure.
