The OAK ACRES AMPHITHEATRE in 1980 was basically a low place in the earth enclosed by a small grove of huge oak trees. We set up our platforms for performing between the trees and our audience sat on benches set up on tiered platforms made from wooden shipping pallets. The stage and seating areas literally grew with the theatre over the seasons out there. Of course we were always at the mercy of the weather, or the lack of it. Mark Walker built the set for WOTW by covering the entire stage area with old shag carpeting and spraying it with brown and green dyes. The upper area where the puppets performed was built up as the sketches above show.
