The so-called " Pit Sequence",censored from the original film of KING KONG showed the hapless crew members being eaten by Giant Spiders!  Two marionettes about 5 feet across at the legs were used to great effect in this restored section. They had spring mandibles which quite nicely pinched the poor guy's necks!

 The little "Lizard" climbs up from the Pit as a horrified JACK DRISCOLL looks on.

I don't have any production stills from this sequence unfortunately...
