SPACE CREATURES!  Aside from the full stage productions we also had open contracts to produce 30 minute shows for amusement parks in the midwest and on the east coast. These little guys are destined for Story Town in Lake George, NY and Joyland Park in Wichita. Three to each unit.
The Space Creatures were a blacklight bit, so everything on them including the feathers glowed. As I recall they did a little dance to a Maynard Ferguson trumpet number with the big finish having their heads seperate from their bodies. I also remember the springy thingies on their heads were a real pain to get right.

Every show had about 10 of these sort of numbers done by three puppeteers ( two on and one off) every hour on the hour from 10am to 6pm. It was a real grind and we had to train the puppeteers locally, most of them just kids. We would rotate the puppets out every season so a new or mostly new show played each park every summer. I traveled a LOT in the late Spring and Summer, but the upshot was frequent shopping sprees in New York city for the next seasons supplies!

(In the second photo you can see the window to the "Hot Room" behind me. This was specially ventilated and closed off from the rest of the workshop so the fumes from the Celastic casting didn't kill us all. Even with the venting we frequently had to open all doors for the crosswinds. Zonu?)
